After a week’s break, the show returns with a loose chat about what’s going on in the world and how it all aligns with TGN and the communities the guys love to cover. This episode does not have a formal topic, but rather serves as Jason and James’ attempt to support those in the watch world and encourage everyone to listen, learn, and donate to worthy causes. Finally, don’t miss Jason’s Instagram auction in which you can get an awesome LE Unimatic while supporting Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (bidding closes Friday!).

Watch for Good! This is an auction, with 100% of the winning bid to be donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. 15 years ago, @gishanir and I became mentors in the local Big Brothers Big Sisters program and were matched with an 11-year old boy from a difficult home situation. Over the subsequent years, our relationship developed into one of the richest experiences of our lives. We are still friends with this confident, polite and strong African-American man and I dare say we gained as much, if not more, from the whole experience as he did. It taught us about African-American culture, how to get through difficult situations, how to stretch comfort levels, and the meaning of true friendship across generations and cultures. Given the current situation in America, I strongly feel that bridging divides of age, race, cultures, and socioeconomic levels is more important than ever and I’d like to help keep that going. The watch in question is a Unimatic U1-DZ, one of only 400 made. It has a 41mm steel case water resistant to 300 meters, sports a rotating 12-hour bezel, and runs a Seiko NH35A automatic movement. The watch is fitted with an excellent nylon NATO strap and comes with a second, camouflage rubber pass-through strap, both with Unimatic signed buckles. Boxes and warrantee card included. The watch is in excellent condition and runs well. The auction is fully endorsed by Unimatic, but please direct all questions about the watch to me. Following on the successful auction recently run by @garactacle , I’m borrowing his format (thanks, @garactacle ): Auction timeframe: Auction is open as of this posting, and will end at Noon CDT, Friday, June 12th. Opening Bid: $ 200 Bidding increment: $ 50 or more. To keep the highest possible amount for donation, $ 30 will be added to the final price if the shipping address is outside the United States. How to bid: Submit your bid via comment on this post, and this post only. DO NOT reply to someone else’s bid. DO NOT DM, email or comment on stories or other posts. You can bid multiple times till the end time. Good luck and thank you! #watchforgood
Beyond the more pressing social topics at hand, Jason’s Land Rover is back from service, James managed to take one top off of his Jeep and then install a different one, and the guys both marvel at the world’s cheapest electric car – the wonderful Changli. Now more than ever, thank you so much for listening, for your emails, and for your messages of support. We’re all in this together.
