Welcome to another installment of “My Watch Story,” a video series starring HODINKEE readers and their most prized watches. The submissions continue to stream in, and we couldn’t be happier to share them with the watch community. Today, we have five new stories submitted by Abhilash Keluth, Jayson de Castro, Elliott Field, Arvind Kalipersad, and Paolo Esguerra.
Feeling inspired, or just discovering this project? Please scroll down to the bottom of the page to learn how to submit your own video. But first, we hope you enjoy this installment of My Watch Story.
Abhilash Keluth And His Casio MRW-200H
Seventeen-year-old Abhilash lives in Doha, Qatar. He got this Casio when he was in the 10th grade and needed something to keep track of time during exams. Initially, it was just a tool to him, but he has grown to appreciate its design – and to appreciate watches in general. It’s currently the only watch in his collection, but he hopes that will change when he has the means.
Jayson de Castro And His Omega Speedmaster Mark II
Jayson’s watch recalls a time when he overcame his fears and took a trip – a trip on which he ended up finding his Omega Speedmaster. When he sees it today, it reminds him that there is fear in the unknown, and that you have to muster the courage to move forward. That confidence that the Speedmaster represents led him to recently develop a new creative outlet.
Elliott Field And His Seiko 6105
Elliott is from Saskatchewan, Canada, and his most prized possession is this Seiko 6105. When his father was a teenager in Australia, his aunt was going to Singapore and asked him if he wanted a souvenir; he requested a dive watch and ended up with this piece. Elliott found it when he was 13, had it fixed up five years later, and gave it to his father for Father’s Day. Shortly after, it was gifted back to Elliott.
Arvind Kalipersad And His Casio G-Shock DW5600
Arvind, who is from Trinidad and Tobago, started to notice the watches his father wore when he was just six years old – and has been into watches ever since. He developed a particular appreciation for the Casio G-Shock DW5600, and while at university, he was able to save up and get this piece. It’s been with him ever since – from earning his Master’s Degree to progressing in his career as an engineer.
Paolo Esguerra And His Tudor Black Bay GMT
Originally from the Philippines, Paolo is a nurse in Georgia. He’s always been into watches, but was never able to afford them. After finishing his Master’s Degree in Nursing, he had the opportunity to come to the U.S. – and he celebrated that with this Tudor Black Bay GMT. He says the watch is proof that hard work really does pay off.
Ready To Submit Your Own Watch Story? Here’s How It Works
1. Pick one watch that is very special to you, and get your camera phone ready.
2. Record a video telling us your most interesting or meaningful story about your watch. Let’s say 2-3 minutes is the sweet spot – if you go longer, that’s okay. (And please remember to introduce yourself: your name and where you are from.)
3. Get creative, keep it clean, and have fun!
4. Take some photos on the wrist and a few shots of the watch so that we can proudly display them on our site. Horizontal, please.
