Welcome to another installment of “My Watch Story,” a video series starring HODINKEE readers and their most prized watches. The submissions continue to stream in, and we couldn’t be happier to share them with the watch community. Today, we have five new stories submitted by Barry Sereb, Seunghyun Han, Abdelrahman Ghanem, Jack Oultram, and Eric Wolak.
Feeling inspired, or just discovering this project? Please scroll down to the bottom of the page to learn how to submit your own video. But first, we hope you enjoy this installment of My Watch Story.
Barry Sereb And His Longines Spirit
Barry, a native of Toronto, kicks off our week of stories with a gift from his mother after he graduated from university – his Longines Spirit. He can’t speak highly enough about its build quality and how well it fits on his wrist. The watch reminds him of his accomplishments and the importance of setting goals.
Seunghyun Han And His Omega De Ville
For Seunghyun, a native of Seoul, South Korea, a passion for watches is a bond he’s shared with his father since he was young. Throughout his life, Seunghyun’s family has lived in many parts of the world, and visiting watch shops was something he and his father loved doing together. Among his friends and peers who predominantly wear smartwatches, Seunghyun likes that his vintage Omega De Ville aligns with who he is and his personality.
Abdelrahman Ghanem And His Tudor Black Bay GMT
Abdelrahman is a native of Alexander, Egypt, who’s been living in Ireland for the past four years. His love of watches began as a child – he recalls how he would wear his mother’s Datejust around the house because it was the right size and how mesmerized he was when he first saw the green glow of a G-Shock. He first became enamored with the Tudor Black Bay GMT when he watched James’s A Week On The Wrist video. As a sales professional living abroad, he loves how useful the watch is and how he’s able to stay connected with friends and colleagues in other countries.
Jack Oultram And His Omega Seamaster
Jack, who is from London, first got into watches when he was 16 years old and received this Omega Seamaster from his father. From its sword hands to the nicks and dings on the case, this classic diver has all the charm that Jack loves about watches. A passion for watches runs through multiple generations in his family, and Jack’s glad that he has an outlet to share his enthusiasm.
Eric Wolak And His Rolex Submariner Ref. 114060
Eric is a nurse in North Carolina, and for the past 10 years, he has celebrated momentous events in his life by adding a watch to his collection. After earning his doctorate in nursing, his wife wanted to mark the occasion by getting him a watch he always longed for – the Rolex Submariner Ref. 114060. She even had the watch inscribed with a play on a quote from Albert Einstein: “Time may be an illusion, but our love is undeniable.”
Ready To Submit Your Own Watch Story? Here’s How It Works
1. Pick one watch that is very special to you, and get your camera phone ready.
2. Record a video telling us your most interesting or meaningful story about your watch. Let’s say 2-3 minutes is the sweet spot – if you go longer, that’s okay. (And please remember to introduce yourself: your name and where you are from.)
3. Get creative, keep it clean, and have fun!
4. Take some photos on the wrist and a few shots of the watch so that we can proudly display them on our site. Horizontal, please.
