Watch Spotting: Harrison Ford Wearing a Breitling Navitmer Pluton 2100 PVD Military Assigned French Aviation (1984)

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom came out in 1984. Harrison Ford, playing the swashbuckling lead, had already appeared in American Graffiti (1973), Apocalypse Now (1979), Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), Blade Runner (1982), and the first three Star Wars movies – so, yeah, a pretty good run.

Here, he’s wearing what looks to me like a rare Breitling Navitmer Pluton 2100 PVD Military Assigned French Aviation. I have many questions about this watch, the most important being: Where in the world did Ford get such an unusual timepiece, and one made for the French military nonetheless? If you know the story, please leave it in the comments.

The watch itself has a digital display with military time, and the Navitimer has the slide rule Breitling implements in all of its Navitimers. This is a true pilot’s watch, which makes perfect sense as Ford himself is a pilot who has, shall we say, seen his share of adventure.
